In the summer, Anne is joined by her sister Julia (or other artists or educators). Together they run week long camps which focus on selected themes. In last summers COLORWORKS camp, students created cave paintings, mixed and invented color names, studied the Ndbele painters from South Africa, learned about a new blue discovered at OSU, studied the colorful artist Yayoi Kusama and made a color wheel from plants found in the garden. It all culminated in a art presentation at camps end attended by parents and friends.
Anne was involved in the building of Atkinson Elementary Learning Gardens and created the website ayearintheschoolgarden.org. She taught art through Artist in the Schools, Saturday Academy, Young Audiences and has run classes and camps for the last five years at The Art Garage.
Since moving back to Portland, Julia Storrs has taught after school art classes with Metropolitan Learning Center and The Art Garage. Currently, she is working on a new body of artwork and volunteering at SOS-Safety Off the Streets- a 75 bed shelter for women, of the Transitions Project.
